1. How do I know how much money is left on my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card?
You can check your Card balance and transaction history at My Card Details on this website or by calling 1300 665 249.Alternatively you can enquire at a participating store (just a staff member to assist you).

2. What is my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card PIN?
Your PIN can be found on the back of your Card. To reveal the PIN, just scratch the panel. It is a 4 digit number and is required when viewing your Card details online, accessing your Card details via 1300 665 249 and when making a purchase with your Card.

3. What do I do if I want to talk to someone about my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card?
Visit your nearest participating store and a staff member will be able to assist you with your query. Alternatively you can email us via the Contact Us section of this website.

4. Where can I use my Essentials Card?
Essentials Cards are welcome at a wide choice of stores throughout Australia such as BIG W, Woolworths and Safeway Supermarkets, Food For Less, as well as at participating CALTEX WOOLWORTHS and CALTEX SAFEWAY co-branded outlets

5. Where can I use my Groceries Only Card?
You can use your Groceries Only Card at any Woolworths or Safeway Supermarket or Food For Less store Australia wide.

6. How can I pay for my Groceries Only Card?
Groceries Only Cards can only be purchased through our Bulk Order Team. Payment can be made by means of cheque, EFT or through a debtors account (for existing customers only).

7. Can I use both an Essentials Card and a Groceries Only Card in the one purchase?
Yes

8. Are there any products I can't buy at Participating Stores?
It is a condition of use of the Essentials Card and Groceries Only Card that you do not use the Card to purchase alcohol or tobacco products. In addition, your use of the Card is subject at all times to the policies (and, where applicable, other terms and conditions) of that participating store regarding the goods and services made available by it. For example, if you are under the age of 16, your Card cannot be used to purchase knives, or if you are under 15, a participating store may not supply you with video games or other material classified as MA15+.

9. What amounts can I load onto an Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card?
You can buy a Card for any value from $10 to $500.

10. How can I pay for my Essentials Card?
Essentials Cards can be purchased online using a credit card eg. MasterCard, Visa, Bankcard American Express and Diners Club. If you purchase the Essentials Card in bulk through our Bulk Order Team you can pay by means of cheque, EFT or through a debtors account (for existing customers only).

11. How can I buy Essentials Cards or Groceries Only Cards?

12. Can I buy something that costs more or less then the value of my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card?
Yes. If the purchase is less than the value on your Card, the purchase will be deducted from your Card balance and the remaining balance can be used until the value reaches zero or the Card expires. If the purchase is more than the value on your Card you will need to pay for the difference between your Card balance and the purchase amount.

13. Can I use more than one Essentials card in the one purchase?
Yes.

14. Do Essentials Cards or Groceries Only Cards expire?
Yes, Cards expire 12 months after their date of purchase. You can check your Card’s expiry date at My Card Details or by calling 1300 665 249.

15. Can I check my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card balance in store?
Yes, a staff member can assist you with a balance enquiry. Just ask in-store.

16. What do I do if my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card is lost, stolen or damaged?
You should treat your Card as if it were cash. You are responsible for the safe keeping of your Card and we have no obligation to replace lost, stolen or damaged Cards. However, if your Card is damaged, please contact the store of purchase or the person or organisation that gave you the Card.

17. Can I exchange my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card for cash?
No, Cards cannot be exchanged for, or used to obtain, cash.

18. Can I withdraw money from my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card?
No, you cannot withdraw money from your Card.

19. Can I use my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card for credit card payments or transaction account deposits?
No, you cannot use a Card for credit card payments or transaction account deposits.

20. Can I redeem an Essentials Cards or Groceries Only Card online?
No, Cards can only be redeemed in participating stores.

21. Can I add more money onto my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card?
No, value can only be loaded onto your Card when it is initially activated.

22. What do I do if I believe there is a mistake with my Essentials Card or Groceries Only Card balance?
Visit your nearest participating store and a staff member will be able to assist you with your query. Alternatively you can email us via the Contact Us section of this website.
